John Seaman - Photography

John Seaman offers blowups of black and white photography of classic young female nudes, often inspired by Ancient Greek History or Mythology.

Most of his models are young college students, rather than professional models, and as such present fresh, spontaneous looks and attitudes. John Seaman's masterful photography captures his models' pristine beauty, classic in its timelessness, captured for this moment.

John Seaman has been photographing young nudes for 20 years, in his studio in Manhattan. John takes further inspiration from the work of such photographers of the nude as Edward Weston, Man Ray, David Hamilton, Bettina Rheims and Lucien Clergue, and also such painters as Gustav Courbet and Amedeo Modigliani.

Skin King

Shirts that send hugs from a loved one, spray-on dresses and semi-living clothes. This is not a scene from a science fiction movie, but from the new video coming soon to the NY BIENNALE ART by Walter Van Beirendock.

The work offers viewers a glimpse into the future of fashion in a world where Biotech and Nanotech are combined with traditional craft and Haute Couture skills.

Walter van Beirendonck promises to show off the most innovative, cutting edge and exciting designers the world has to offer as well as raising issues for global debate, such as the use of tissue culture to produce semi-living clothes.

Science has always been the driving force of fashion. From new dyes to synthetic fabrics, science is constantly driving the changes on the catwalk and in the wardrobe.

Nemo - Installation

Nemo’s art is an interpretation of life starting from medium, it’s decadency and rebirthing. Nemo listens, observes, catches the opportunity, the only-one, trough the interface, the joint. Most of mediums used are woods from the sea smooth and transformed by the water and the time.

But stones too, iron, metals, alloy, asphalt, rust, plastic: everything that from nature, from materials, from man action can come out, lifeless objects ready to live a new life. The usage of mediums with a previous life contributes to create unique objects where aesthetic component is more than its function and to interpret the passion and the life which pulps to stop suddenly to start again.

From causality the artist comes to the severity of imposed connection from where he starts again to build a endless dialogue. The interface is the starting: of the chaos with necessity, of the unconscious job of time and nature with the work of the artist; the interface between the slow corrosion of the water with the instantaneousness of the heat of the soldering; the junction between the crash of objects and their resurrection; the overlay of rough and free surfaces and essential order of shapes and lines; the junction between wood and iron, iron and iron, iron and others mediums, in the effort of a possible and aesthetics synthesis between natural elements and human been.

Nemo is researching new balances to create new opportunities of life with the diversity of its perspectives. His art screams passion and loneliness, thirst of wrights and a desperate necessity of leaving his imprint through hazardous shapes and approaches.

Title: I love the castity

The words "chaste" and "chastity" stems from the proto-Indo-European root "kes" meaning "to cut or divide" and more recently the Latin word "castus" meaning "to cut off from".
This is closely related to the word caste, castrate, castigate, and incest.

In English, the words "chaste" and "chastity" arose around the middle of the 13th century, with "chaste" being slightly older.
When the words entered the English language, they meant slightly different things. "Chaste" meant "virtuous or pure from unlawful sexual intercourse" (referring to extramarital sex), while "chastity" meant "virginity". It was not until the late 16th century that the word "chaste" had about the same meaning as "chastity".

Chastity is sexual behavior of a man or woman acceptable to the ethical norms and guidelines of a culture, civilization, or religion.
In the western world, the term has become closely associated (and is often used interchangeably) with sexual abstinence, especially before marriage.
However, the term remains applicable to persons in all states, single or married, clerical or lay, and has implications beyond sexual temperance. Placed opposite the deadly sin of lust, Chastity has been classified as one of seven virtues.

Title: Christ suicide

The painful birth of Christianity is synonymous with the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. This sent forth his disciples to spread the words that people, particularly the poor and oppressed, longed to hear. One had only to accept Jesus Christ as the true son of God.
But few believed it was that easy. Many felt they had to emulate Christ, to suffer even to die, and so the Jewish cult of martyrdom entered the hallways of Christianity and spread into the Arabian deserts of Islam.
This belief, today manifest in terrorism, suicide bombings and the sacrifice of human life, be it by deliberate force or "friendly fire"continues all in the name of God. But how did this come to be?
The answer lies in the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth.

Title: Better Than Gold

"Stream of Consciousness"

As an artist, I seek a balance between living in a world dominated by corrupt institutions and carving my own path of creativity that emphasizes my values of unity and love. As an artist I also feel a social responsibility to give others the courage to do the same.

In my work, I explore the mystery of the human soul combining my classical training with pure observation and fantasy. I am concerned with my god -- love, and how to ignite the vibration of joy that comes along with being ‘in love.’ Being in love is the highest state given to humans and this is what informs and concerns me in my work.

Bio: Barbara currently lives in Philadelphia, PA. She came to Philadelphia in 2004 to study at Studio Incamminati on a scholarship from Nelson Shanks. Before that she had been living in Florence, Italy for a year. She had gone to Florence because while meeting success in NYC, she felt drawn to learn more about classical painting in the city she fell in love with five years prior. While there, she studied drawing with sculptor Mario Pachioli, who studied with Pietro Annigoni. Barbara received her B.F.A. from Syracuse University in 1999.
